The Number 33

Today we focus on a little Numerology and the Number 33. In numerology 33 is considered one of the master numbers, along with 11 and 13.

Numerology really is only the study of the meaning, attributes, traditions or beliefs that have been associated with certain numbers over time.  All numbers have some sort of meaning attributed to it in some way or form.  These attributes come from esoteric observations made by the masses and are passed down from generation to generation by tradition. My general consensus is that if the meanings have lasted this long, there must be something to it. In addition we see these stories, meanings and attributes associated with certain numbers repeatedly throughout our history in tales, manuscripts and real life occurrences.

Enlightenment, Truth, Completion, Revelation & Maturity:

In short 33 signifies truth, completion, a certain maturity if you will; a symbol of great enlightenment and illumination, where the veil is lifted and truth is revealed.

Physical Reality or Science:

In physical reality, in creation, 33 only seem to have a place when trying to divide a whole (100) into 3. 33 x 3 is the closest you can get to divide the whole. In science the Atomic number for arsenic is 33. A normal human spine has 33 vertebrae when the bones from the coccyx are counted individually, and according to the Newton scale, it is the temperature when water boils.

There are divine geometry aspects where the angle of 33 degrees is found all over the place, like in the dimensions of the Great Pyramid. 33 is an intricate part in the development of and the reasons for the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

But from a human perspective we see more meanings and attributes for 33.

Yeshua AKA:  Jeshua or Jesus:

Yeshua was said to be 33 years old when he started delivering His message to humanity as well as when He was crucified. This is also ironically the year 33 A.D.  So at 33 He was ready & prepared to deliver his truth to the masses. Yeshua’s message was also considered by many to be truthful. Although He said some new and radical things, many believed & saw truths in His message. It is also said that He performed 33 miracles.

Masonic order:

If you want to discuss meanings of the number 33 that have been passed down from ancient times, you don’t have to look much farther that the Masons. The Mason’s are a fraternity of men who go back so far, there is no date. The term they use to describe the age of the order is “time immemorial”, meaning,   no one remembers how far it goes back.

The Masonic order as you may know is divided up into 33 different “degrees”. At each degree the candidate is given knowledge of the order. At each degree aspects or secrets are revealed. It goes from the 1^st to the 33rd degree.  So the highest degree or order that is obtainable is 33. Not 100 or 360 or some other number that would better signify completion, but 33. Here we see 33 once again representing the aspect, meaning and attributes of completion, maturity, enlightenment, revelation and truth. There is apparently nothing more to learn. Apparently everything has been given that can be given or can be revealed.

Humanity:

I have seen it alluded to that humanity as a whole is a species whose ego structure does not crystallize until around the age of 33. That is when we usually figure out who we truly want to be and finally start to act that way.  Although we may legally identify the age of maturity as 18 or 21, many believe that it is not until around the age of 33 that man truly matures mentally. Until then, he is still struggling to come to term with his belief system and that of his societal and parental upbringing.  I believe this is true and evidently so does everyone else, since we require a person to be 33 before they can become President of the United States. :-)
